Health Insurance Assistance

Helping Community Members Access Healthcare

AHSC’s trained multilingual, multicultural staff can help individuals and families sort through the options and apply for health insurance coverage. Options include:

Oregon Health Plan (OHP)

We help individuals and families renew or apply for Oregon Health Plan (OHP) or Medicaid. AHSC’s OHP assisters have been trained and certified to provide information, health navigation, and application assistance through the new Integrated Eligibility ONE system.

Healthier Oregon

Starting July 1, 2022, OHP Citizenship Waived Medical (CWM) members who are 19–25 years old and 55+ will move to full Oregon Health Plan (OHP) benefits, regardless of their immigrant status. This represents a significant expansion of benefits for the 19–25 and 55+ age groups, from emergency only to full OHP health benefits, including coverage for physical exams, tooth fillings, mental health care, prescriptions, labs, x-rays, and hospital care. AHSC staff are ready to assist community members with the transition from CWM to Healthier Oregon full OHP benefits, enrollment assistance, and health navigation—translating letters to finding a doctor and scheduling appointments. Call us today for more information.

Marketplace (FFM)

Marketplace Open Enrollment Period will be starting on November 1st, 2022. This health insurance coverage is for individuals or families who do not qualify for OHP. Applicants may also apply for premium tax credit assistance to help pay for monthly premiums. There are many different levels or tiers of health plans such as Bronze or Silver plan. There is also a special enrollment period available now if you have any qualifying life changes such as a move or loss of health coverage. AHSC’s trained and certified assisters are here to provide information, health navigation and application assistance for new and renewals through the Marketplace (FFM) system.

Reproductive Health Program

The Reproductive Health Program works with network clinics to offer free or low-cost reproductive health services, such as: breast and cervical exams, pregnancy tests, birth control, STI screenings, or postpartum care. Regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, or immigration status, people can access quality services at Reproductive Health Program network clinics. Services also available for youth and men.

Kaiser Community Health Coverage program

For individuals and families who need health coverage but do not qualify for OHP or Marketplace, there is a new program through Kaiser. Kaiser Permanente Northwest Charitable,  in collaboration with Project Access NOW, is offering health coverage for individuals who do not have access to any other health coverage.
