Problem Gambling Service

You Are Not Alone. Help Is Here.

Problem gambling affects millions of individuals and families across the United States and can lead to financial hardship, relationship conflicts, emotional distress, and other challenges that impact daily life. Asian communities are not immune to these struggles, yet cultural and language barriers can sometimes make it difficult to seek help.

To address this need, Oregon Health Authority has partnered with Asian Health & Service Center (AHSC) to establish a culturally responsive Problem Gambling Support Program. AHSC’s trained counselors provide free, confidential, culturally competent, and language-specific counseling services for individuals experiencing gambling-related concerns, as well as for family members, partners, and friends affected by a loved one’s gambling. Our goal is to help individuals and families regain control of their lives, strengthen relationships, and build a healthier future.

How We Can Help

Our trained counselors provide:

  • Free and confidential counseling services
  • Support for individuals experiencing gambling-related concerns
  • Support for family members, partners, and friends
  • Culturally competent counseling
  • Language-specific services
  • Referrals to additional community resources when needed

Are You Concerned About Someone’s Gambling?

If you care about someone who gambles, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you sometimes uncomfortably angry at someone for gambling?
  • Have your finances been affected by another person’s gambling?
  • Are you experiencing relationship problems or conflict due to someone’s gambling?
  • Do you feel depressed, anxious, or overwhelmed because of a gambling problem that feels beyond your control?

If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, support is available for you and your loved ones.

Are You Concerned About Your Own Gambling?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Have you become restless, irritable, or anxious when trying to stop or cut down on gambling?
  • Have you tried to keep family or friends from knowing how much you gamble?
  • Have you experienced financial difficulties because of gambling and needed help from family or friends?
  • Have you found yourself unable to cut down or stop gambling?
  • Do you ignore phone calls or messages from home while gambling?

If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, gambling may be affecting your well-being, relationships, or financial stability.
