Mental Health Promotion and Prevention Program

Supporting Everyday Mental Health in Our Community
At the Asian Health & Service Center (AHSC), we believe mental health is an important part of everyday life and overall well-being. Our promotion and outreach efforts aim to improve the health and wellness of Asian community members through culturally and linguistically responsive education, community engagement, resource building, and support for both physical and emotional health. We believe emotional well-being cannot thrive without a healthy and supportive community that encourages growth, connection, understanding, and early support to help prevent crisis. Through outreach, psychoeducation, and accessible mental health resources, AHSC works to reduce stigma, promote emotional wellness, and strengthen community support for individuals and families.

Our Community Outreach & Mental Health Promotion Efforts
Senior Group Presentations
We provide weekly presentations and discussions at senior community groups to promote mental health awareness, emotional well-being, self-care, and healthy social connection among older adults.

Community Outreach Events
AHSC participates in community outreach events throughout the year to share mental health information, increase awareness, and connect individuals and families with culturally responsive behavioral health resources and services.
Grounding & Self-Care Giveaway Items
To support emotional wellness, AHSC distributes self-care and grounding kit items that encourage stress reduction and mindfulness. Current giveaway items focus on 5-senses grounding tools that promote calming and emotional regulation.

Mental Health Newsletters & Social Media
Each month, AHSC clinicians contribute articles and educational content focused on mental health and well-being. This year’s theme, “Everyday Mental Health,” highlights how mental health affects all aspects of daily life and is not limited to a diagnosis or crisis.

Mental Health Outreach Videos
AHSC has developed outreach videos that explore cultural stigma, emotional wellness, and community healing. Topics include cultural stigma surrounding mental health, the “Ah-Fong Story,” and our Bridging the Silence initiative.

Multilingual Mental Health Booklets
AHSC offers two mental health booklet versions in five languages to help community members better understand mental health, emotional wellness, self-care practices, and available mental health resources. These materials are designed to reduce stigma and improve access to culturally relevant information.
The booklets will be available to clients, distributed at our outreach events, and can also be viewed in online booklet format below. Thank you for helping us spread awareness and support mental wellness for all!

These BH booklets are available in five languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese.
