Volunteer

Our trained bilingual, bicultural volunteers help deliver services devoted to increasing well-being and access to care for Asian cancer patients. Volunteer Patient Navigators play a crucial role in providing language and culturally specific care that emotionally comforts patients, while helping them connect to care and treatment options. Due to loss of some volunteers during the pandemic, we especially need more Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese speaking volunteers who are cancer survivors or caregivers of cancer patients.

“My experience as an ACRSS volunteer is really rewarding. I feel joyful each time after I help a cancer patient. I also treasure the true friendships with them. It is a mutual relationship the cancer patients show concern to me too.

“I found that ACRSS not only gives me the chance to serve our cancer patients, ACRSS also provides me with a strong sense of resilience by caring for people who are in need.  I hope our patients can feel blessed through our services. I wish that they can also find faith, hope, and love in ACRSS.”

“Whenever I provided services to meet the needs of Korean cancer patients, I deeply appreciated all I could do for them. As a resident of Portland, and volunteer, I’m honored to help with the Asian Health and Service Center, which is leading a better Asian community in Portland. I appreciate being part of the AHSC”
