Asian Cancer Resource & Support Services (ACRSS)

ACRSS Support Resources offers a variety of language and culturally specific resources on the topics of cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and after-treatment care. Resources are provided in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese to fill the void of information available in a patient’s native language and help them better understand their diagnosis and treatment options.

Located within ASHC’s main Portland Center (at 9035 SE Foster), the resource library provides culturally and linguistically appropriate cancer resources and educational materials in five languages: English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and Vietnamese.

These virtual and in-person education workshops are delivered by regional healthcare leaders on topics from current cancer treatment options to coping strategies. This pilot project funded by OHSU was aimed to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate cancer nutrition education to Cantonese-speaking cancer patients and caregivers in the tri-county region. The project created three nutrition classes featuring cooking demonstrations in 2022. Classes were recorded and shared on YouTube to benefit a public audience. In the future, AHSC hopes to adapt this project to also benefit Korean and Vietnamese speaking communities.
