Free Vision Screening

AHSC is partnering with OHSU Casey Eye Institute to provide no-cost comprehensive medical vision screening to Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and Vietnamese community members who need eye care and have no eye health insurance.

Event Time and Date: Saturday 8/29/2026, 10am to 5pm
Location: Asian Health & Service Center, 9035 SE Foster Rd. Portland, OR
Duration: This screening will take up to 2.5 hours to complete.

Interpretation services will be provided. Each participant will receive assistance with obtaining free prescription glasses through the Lions Eyeglass Assistance Program (LEAP) Optical Lab. The Asian Health and Service Center will assist with coordinating any follow-up care needed.

The Asian Health & Service Center (AHSC) invites youth to apply for our Summer Youth Volunteer Program. This free program is sponsored by the OHA CBO Public Health Equity Grant and is designed for high school students who are interested in supporting their community, earning volunteer service hours, and building leadership skills. Students who speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or Korean are especially encouraged to apply, but all are welcome!

Free Dental Screening

Asian Health & Service Center is partnering with Kaiser Permanente and Medical Teams International to provide the community with a Free Mobile Dental Clinic. This monthly MTI’s mobile clinic is hosted at AHSC’s SE Foster location through October 2026, providing greater access to dental care for the Asian community.

Pre-registration is required due to limited event capacity.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program
FREE Classes in Korean, Mandarin and Vietnamese

This interactive workshop series helps adults living with chronic health conditions build practical skills to better manage their health. Sessions meet once a week for 6 weeks. Each week meets 2.5 hours in small groups, led by two trained facilitators.

Participants learn strategies to manage symptoms such as fatigue, pain, stress, and sleeplessness, while also exploring healthy eating, exercise, medication management, and effective communication with healthcare providers.

The program supports people living with conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, COPD, depression, and other long-term health issues. Through goal setting, problem-solving, and peer support, participants gain confidence to manage their health and maintain active, fulfilling lives.
