OCTRI - Let's get healthy
Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) – Let's Get Healthy! is an educational and community health promotion Oregon Health & Science University research project designated for minority populations. Let's Get Healthy! works with Asian Health & Service Center (AHSC), as well as other community-based organizations: African American Health Coalition (AAHC), and Native American Rehabilitation Association (NARA), towards the mission "to promote culturally appropriate holistic service models and improve the health and well-being of ethnic communities" and consequently formed a Cross-Cultural Research Partnership (CCRP). The CCRP aims to enhance the development of culturally competent materials and approaches for Let's Get Healthy!
Through the years of collaboration, Let's Get Healthy! have obtained valuable research data at the Annual AHSC Asian Community Health Fairs, and is continually improving in its approach and effectiveness with the help of community members. In their participation with the AHSC Asian Community Health Fairs, together we have increased a level of health literacy and awareness among the Asian communities. AHSC will continue to work with Let’s Get Healthy! to educate and create a positive impact on the community towards accessible health information everyone (especially non-English speaking community members) can benefit from, and the ultimate goal of health consciousness.
